Producer, Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gene Lake gives us his perspective and experience on music and his development as a musician/drummer. The unique thing is Gene’s professional outlook as he relates it to the humanities instead of where most define by resume and ability. I consider Gene not only a close friend, but as an exciting inspiration to witness and be a part of. I first heard and met Gene in 1995 in Washington DC in a club called Twins on Colorado Avenue N.W. where he performed with pianist Andy Milne. I remember how refreshing it was to hear the way his sticks slapped those drums. He reminded me a lot of my playing and style. It is no coincidence we met and are now musical compatriots as well as friends.
